No. 2 Butler Coasts to 64-44 Win over Barton

The Grizzlies (25-1, 19-1 KJCCC) scored the game's first 13 points before Barton (12-15, 10-11) head coach called a timeout. For the quarter, Barton scored a total of four points on very low 11.8 percent shooting (2 for 17). Though the Grizzlies led 13-4 after one, they failed to get another point for the final 5:35 of the quarter.
The second quarter featured more offense, as the Grizzlies outscored Barton 21-16 for the quarter. Butler shot 69.2 percent from the field on nine of 13 shooting. Barton shot the ball much more efficient in the quarter, going seven of 15 and were two of four from three. The Grizzlies led 34-20 going into the break.
Both teams shot the ball poorly to begin the second half, with each team making only three buckets in the third quarter and each scoring 11 points. The Grizzlies shot only three of 14 while Barton shot three of 17.
Butler pulled away in the final quarter, leading by as many as 22 with 5:45 to go in the contest. The Grizzlies scored 19 points in the fourth to Barton's 13. Barton was held to three of 10 shooting for the quarter but were five of six from the foul line. Butler shot nine of 16 from the field.
Barton was held to a season low 25.4 percent shooting on 15 of 59 shooting. Butler shot 45.8 percent from the night (27-59). The Grizzlies outrebounded Barton 42-36 and had 26 points in the paint to Barton's 10.
All five Grizzly starters scored in double figures. Ashley Singhateh, Mya Mayberry, Aliyah Green, and Keegan Yarick each had 13 points on the night. Kenzie Galliart rounded out the starting five with a 10-point, 12 rebound double-double.
Butler holds the number one spot in the Jayhawk Conference at 19-1, while Dodge City sits in second with a conference record of 17-3. The Grizzlies will travel to No. 8 Dodge City next Wednesday, February 25th at 5:30 p.m.
Next up: No. 2 Butler will be on the road this Saturday to take on Cowley at 1 p.m. from William S. Scott Gymnasium in Arkansas City, Kan.
