Lechtenberg Releases 2026 Volleyball Schedule

EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler Community College head volleyball coach Lisa Lechtenberg released the Grizzlies' 2026 schedule Thursday afternoon.
Lechtenberg's 2026 schedule features 29 regular-season matches, highlighted by three neutral-site tournaments and four opponents that finished the 2025 season ranked in the NJCAA top 25, including two that ended the year inside the top five.
The Grizzlies open the season on the road against Florida Southwestern State on Aug. 21 to begin the Battle at the Beach Tournament in Fort Myers, Florida. The Buccaneers finished the 2025 season ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA and posted an 11-2 home record. Butler will also face Polk State, Eastern Florida State and Daytona State during the season-opening tournament.
The Grizzlies return home for their home opener against Rose State on Aug. 29 before opening Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play on the road against Dodge City on Sept. 1.
Butler then travels to McCook, Nebraska, for the McCook Invitational Sept. 4-5, where it will face Eastern Wyoming, McCook, Northwest and North Platte.
Following the McCook Invitational, Butler begins a stretch of nine conference matches from Sept. 9 through Oct. 5. The Grizzlies then take a break from conference play for their final nonconference competition of the regular season, traveling to Athens, Texas, for the Cardinal Challenge on Oct. 9-10.
Butler will face Weatherford College, Trinity Valley, Jefferson College and Lee College during the two-day event. Host Trinity Valley headlines the field after finishing 2025 ranked No. 6.
Following the trip to Texas, the Grizzlies close the regular season with six conference matches, including four at the Power Plant. Butler will play each of the eight KJCCC Division I teams twice, once at home and once on the road.
The Region VI Tournament begins Nov. 4 as the Grizzlies look to capture their first regional title since 2021 and earn a berth to the NJCAA National Tournament, scheduled for Nov. 18-21 at Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Lechtenberg and the Grizzlies are coming off a 20-12 campaign in 2025, including a 10-6 mark in conference play.
