Benning, Clennan and Hefty earn post season honors
Three Butler volleyball players picked up post season honors announced the conference office Wednesday morning.

Jaryn Benning was named First Team All- KJCCC, Carly Clennan picked up Second Team honors and Sydney Hefty was named to the Honorable Mention team.
"As a program we are super excited for these three ladies," said head coach Lisa Lechtenberg. "Throughout the season Jaryn, Carly and Sydney were noticed by opposing teams/coaches and that says a lot about them as players."
Jaryn Benning, sophomore outside hitter from Topeka, KS, who was an Honorable Mention selection a season ago, picked up First Team All-KJCCC honors during her sophomore campaign. Benning led Butler to 14-10 overall record and a number of firsts for the Grizzlies. Benning finished the year averaging a double-double of 10.2 kills per match and 12.4 digs per match throughout the season. She had a hitting percentage of .212 and finished the season with 15 service aces. Benning had a season high 21 kills in the Grizzlies five-set win at Garden City on March 25 which tied her for the school record with Samantha Jernigan who recorded 21 kills against Longview on October 24, 2012.
"Jaryn was a volleyball player to reckon with both offensively and defensively. Her stats prove this with (11) double-doubles this season in just 24 matches." - Lechtenberg
Carly Clennan, freshman middle blocker from El Dorado, KS, had an impressive freshman season earning her Second Team All-KJCCC honors. Clennan was second on the team in blocks this year with 69. She also finished with 112 kills, 23 digs. Clennan played in all 24 of the Grizzlies matches this year. She had a season high 13 kills hitting .400 in the Grizzlies 3-1 victory at home over Colby on March 8. Three times Clennan had a seven-block match: against Trinidad State, Seward, and Barton.
"Carly came in and established herself as a solid middle with her ability to block a lot of balls as well as put balls away. We can't wait to see what she does this fall." - Lechtenberg
Sydney Hefty, sophomore defensive specialist from Wamego, KS, was named to the Honorable Mention All-KJCCC team. Hefty was a rock in the back row for Butler with a team leading 356 digs. Hefty played in all 24 matches this spring and averaged 4.0 digs per set. She added in 16 service aces and 49 assists. Hefty has totaled 527 digs during her career as a Grizzly.
"Sydney developed into a valuable libero. She became a constant in our serve receive and dug a lot of balls for us this season." - Lechtenberg
