ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. – Grizzlies suffer their second conference loss of the season to No. 8 Cowley on the road in a shutout.
The Butler Grizzlies (2-5-2) fell to the No. 8 ranked Cowley Tigers (3-0-1) on the road 4-0 for their fourth loss on the season, including their second conference loss.
The Grizzlies were unable to find the back of the net against Cowley, who remain unbeaten after their victory over the Grizzlies.
About eight and a half minutes into the contest, Cowley's Saki Sanno scored the first goal of the game (assisted by Sophie Knaab) to take a 1-0 advantage over the Grizzlies. With 17:06 remaining on the clock, Sanno again found the back of the net to extend Cowley's lead 2-0 heading into the break.
Cowley again scored two more goals in the second half, as Sara Cortez scored her first goal of the contest off of a header (assisted by Mariana Andrade) to increase their lead 3-0 over the Grizzlies. Finally, with 2:00 minutes to go, Cortez scored yet again to essentially ice the game at 4-0.
Butler had seven shots and six shots on goal for the game, compared to Cowley's 23 shots and 14 shots on goal. Grizzlies sophomore London Ingram led the team in shots with two, also adding one shot on goal. Butler goalkeeper Millie Robshaw-Charlesworth had 10 saves.
Next Up: The Grizzlies will be back on the road on Saturday as they will travel to Coffeyville to take on the Red Ravens Veterans Memorial Stadium.
