No. 19 Butler & No. 18 Lewis Tie for the Second Consecutive Game

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — The No. 19 Butler Grizzlies tie with No. 18 Lewis & Clark Community College for the Grizzlies second tie in as many games.
The Butler Grizzlies (1-3-2) tied with Lewis & Clark (2-0-2) on Sunday afternoon from Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Going into the contest, the Grizzlies had tied with No. 7 Iowa Western on Friday, 1-1. Coincidentally, Lewis & Clark was also coming off a 1-1 tie with Iowa Western on Saturday. Butler has had one of the toughest non-conference schedule's in the country, facing a ranked opponent in every single game thus far on the young season.
The first half between the Grizzlies and Lewis & Clark was a defensive battle. That was until the Grizzlies sophomore forward Anahyssa Nash scored the first goal of the game from 10 yards out, coming off a beautiful assist from Grizzlies sophomore Tyesha Nelson. Butler led Lewis & Clark 1-0 heading into the break.
There wasn't another goal scored for the first part of the second half, until Lewis & Clark tied things up 1-1 after an own goal from the Grizzlies with 21:54 to go in the game. Five minutes later, Lewis & Clark found the back of the net once again, this time from Aurore Navicet-Joinny to take a 2-1 advantage over Butler. The Grizzlies continued to fight like they have all season long, and with 11:30 to go in the game, Butler's Kenedi Smith tied the game after a bomb from 30 yards out. For the final 11 minutes of the game, neither side were able to score again, and No. 19 Butler and No. 18 Lewis & Clark ended in a tie.
The Grizzlies finished the day with eight shots and seven shots on goal. London Ingram led Butler with three shots and two shots on goal, and five other Grizzlies each had one shot and one shot on goal. Grizzlies goalie Millie Robshaw-Charlesworth allowed four shots on goal with three saves and one goal allowed on the day.
Next Up: Butler will travel to Broncbuster Stadium to take on Garden City to begin conference play on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
