COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa. — The No. 19 Butler Grizzlies snap their three game losing streak with tie against No. 7 Iowa Western on Friday evening.
The Grizzlies entered the contest with three straight losses, all to ranked opponents. On Friday, No. 19 Butler (1-3-1) faced yet another ranked opponent, with this time facing No. 7 Iowa Western (5-0-2).
Going into the break, the score remained 0-0. This was the third time this season that the Grizzlies failed to score a goal in the first half. The second half was a different story.
Iowa Western's Arianna Harrison scored the first goal of the game, with 30:58 remaining in the contest. Eight minutes later, the Grizzlies got on the board, the goal scored by All-American London Ingram (assisted by Darya Karabanko & Merari Flores). For the final 22 minutes, neither team was able to get the ball into the back of the net again, and the two teams finished in a tie 1-1.
The goal by Ingram was her second on the young season. Karabanko and Flores each got their first assist on the year. Ingram led the Grizzlies on the night with five shots and two shots on goal. Kenedi Smith recorded two shots and one shot on goal, and Tyesha Nelson added one shot with one shot on goal.
Next Up: The Grizzlies return to action on Sunday, September 7th at 1 P.M. to take on Lewis & Clark Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
