Mayberry Named NJCAA Second Team All-American

Sophomore and Wichita, Kansas native Mya Mayberry was named a NJCAA Second Team All-American after her terrific season with the Grizzlies. Mayberry averaged 10.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and shot 37.2 percent from three on the season. Mayberry becomes the ninth Grizzly to earn NJCAA All-American honors in program history and is the first to earn the honor since 2023, when Freddie Wallace was named to the third team.
Mayberry played a key role in the Grizzlies incredible season, a season that saw Butler finish 32-2 overall, 23-1 in conference play, won the KJCCC regular season championship and later won the Region 6 Tournament. The Grizzlies earned their first No. 1 overall seed in school history for the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament.
The highlight of the year for Mayberry came on January 26th, when the Grizzlies played the No. 18 ranked Hutchinson Blue Dragons in Hutchinson. Mayberry almost single handedly led the Grizzlies to a 56-52 win over the Blue Dragons. Mayberry scored a career high 36 points in 37 minutes, shot 12-17 from the field and went eight of 11 from behind the arc.
