Butler Softball Survives and Advances With 2 Wins in Region 6 Tournament
Grizzlies eliminate Barton and Seward to advance in Region 6 Tournament.

DODGE CITY, Kan. – Following their loss to Dodge City in the opening day of the Region 6 Tournament on Friday, the Grizzlies responded by defeating Barton and Seward to survive and advance.
The Grizzlies now face No. 1 seed Hutchinson on Sunday at 12 p.m. for a spot in the Region 6 Tournament Championship, with the winner playing Dodge City.
Game 1 (7 inn.) – Butler 6, Barton 2
The Grizzlies got on the board in the bottom half of the first after a two-run homer from Kyler Demel to take a 2-0 lead. Butler got on the board again in the bottom half of the fifth, scoring four runs to take a 6-0 lead.
Haely Hagemann singled up the middle to score Emillee Stofferahn followed by an RBI groundout from Demel, and finally an RBI single from Tatum Steiner to put the Grizzlies up 6-0.
Barton scored two runs in the sixth but wasn't nearly enough as the Grizzlies closed the game out in the seventh.
Addison Chapman threw 6.1 innings and allowed just two hits and had seven strikeouts to earn the win in the circle.
Game 2 (5 inn.) – Butler 11, Seward 0
A combined no hitter from Addison Chapman and Anistyn Marcotte lifted the Grizzlies to an 11-0 shutout over the Seward County Saints on Saturday night.
The Grizzlies scored all 11 runs through the first three innings, including six runs in the third alone.
Butler totaled eight hits in just 22 at bats on 11 runs and didn't strike out a single time.
Chapman earned her 15th win on the season in the circle for the Grizzlies. Chapman threw three innings and faced nine batters, allowed zero hits and zero walks while striking out five of them.
Anistyn Marcotte came in for relief and threw the final two innings, while allowing zero hits and one walk.
