EL DORADO, Kan. – The Butler Grizzlies hit the 30-win milestone after their doubleheader sweep over Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Wednesday from Doug Chance Field.
The Grizzlies (30-14, 24-6 KJCCC) have now won at least 30 games for the 16th consecutive season (excluding the 2020 COVID cancelled season) in their final home game of the season. Fort Hays Tech (1-48, 0-30) is now 0-30 in KJCCC play.
Game 1 (5 inn.) – Butler 16, Fort Hays Tech 1
The Grizzlies scored 10 runs through the first two innings in game number one of Wednesday's doubleheader. The Grizzlies held a 16-0 advantage heading into the top of the fifth before Fort Hays Tech got their only hit and run of the game.
Starter Addison Chapman had yet another impressive performance in the circle for the Grizzlies. Chapman threw all five innings and allowed just one hit, one run, and had 14 strikeouts. Chapman now improves to 12-3 on the season.
The Grizzlies had 14 total hits in 22 at bats.
