Lopez Named NJCAA All-American

Butler softball freshman infielder Claire Lopez was named an NJCAA third team All-American, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Butler softball freshman infielder Claire Lopez was named an NJCAA third team All-American, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Lopez completes the trifecta of postseason recognition as she was previously named a first team All-KJCCC selection as well as a second team NFCA All-Region honoree.

The Olathe, Kan., native finished the season leading the KJCCC in batting average (.522) which was also fourth best nationally. Her on-base percentage (.596) also led the conference while ranking fifth in the nation. She finished with 72 hits, scored 60 runs and stole 35 bases, third most in the league. Lopez finished with 25 multi-hit games.

Lopez's All-American selection marks the 11th consecutive season that Butler softball has had an All-American. Click here to view the full list. She is the third Butler softball All-American to hail from Olathe, joining Shayna Espy (2021) and Megan Wurts (2016).

Lopez and Hutchinson's Olivia Sandoval were the lone All-American selections from the KJCCC.
