2nd Straight KJCCC Weekly Award for Butler Men's Track and Field Goes to Campbell
Campbell's 800m Championship Run at KU Relays Nets Conference Recognition
For a second consecutive week a Butler men's track and field student-athlete has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
Ainsley Campbell, a sophomore middle distance runner from Kingston, Jamaica, had a big performance at the 102nd Kansas Relays over the weekend. Campbell won the men's 800m with a time of 1:51.60. He finished ahead of runners from Cloud County, Kansas, Highland, Western Illinois and Wartburg.
The time of 1:51.60 was Campbell's second best run of the season in the 800 as he previously posted an NJCAA Nationals qualifying time of 1:51.57 at Wichita State's KT Woodman Classic on April 11th.
Campbell joins Butler freshman distance runner Kamohelo Ramatsebe who was named the KJCCC and NJCAA Division 1 Track Athlete of the Week on April 15th.
Butler's next competition comes May 1st through May 3rd as they travel to Coffeyville to compete in the Region 6 Outdoor Championships.
