Nxgabazi Nets KJCCC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Recognition
Strong Week in Texas Earns Nxgabazi Conference Honor
Butler distance runner Itumeleng Nxgabazi was named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Week 3 Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Nxgabazi had a big week in Texas for Butler. He ran the 1500m at two different meets, Texas State's Bobcat Invitational as well as the University of Texas Relays. At the Texas Relays, Ngxabazi placed second in the 1500m B section, running it in 3:49.96. At the Bobcat Invitational Nxgabazi set a meet record as well as a personal record, running a time of 3:48.29 and taking first at the meet.
Nxgabazi is the second Grizzly runner to be named a KJCCC Athlete of the Week following Ishmael Acheampong's nod during the indoor season.
