Carter named USTFCCCA National Indoor Athlete of the Week
Butler's Dakari Carter, sophomore sprinter from Streetsboro, OH, was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Athlete of the Week after his monstrous performance last Friday at the Washburn Div. I/Juco Challenge.
Competing in his first meet of the indoor season, Carter notched two NJCAA top-5 performances in the 200 and 60 meter dashes. Carter won the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.42, which is currently the fastest time in the NJCAA this season. His runner-up finish in the 60 meter, a time of 6.76 marks him the third fastest 60 this season in the NJCAA.
This is the second time in program history that a male athlete from Butler CC has been named National Athlete of the Week during the indoor season. Travis Collins previously earned the honor back on January 30, 2018.
"I am glad Dakari got recognized for his success this past weekend," said head coach Dustin Mettler. "This young man works hard, and it is good to see hard work recognized at the national level."
The Grizzlies are back on the track this coming Saturday and Sunday as they compete in the Region VI and KJCCC Championships hosted by Pittsburg State University.
