Grizzlies Bounce Back With Win at Pratt

The win improves Butler to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while Pratt falls to 3-5 (0-3). Remarkably, all three of Butler's losses this season have been decided by just a single point.
The Grizzlies built a 49-39 halftime lead at the Beaver Dome and stretched the margin to as many as 15 in the second half. Pratt rallied late, trimming the deficit to 91-89 with just over three minutes remaining. Butler responded with a decisive 7-2 run, locking down defensively and converting clutch free throws to secure the 98-91 win.
Devin Kerr turned in one of his best performances of the season, scoring 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting while dishing out nine assists, narrowly missing a double-double. Josiah Kirkwood added 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Three other Grizzlies reached double figures: AJ Pierre-Jerome (14 points, 5-of-6 shooting), Xavier Brown (13 points), and freshman Odie Williams (11 points, 5-of-6 shooting).
As a team, Butler shot 51.4 percent from the field and went 10-of-32 from beyond the arc. The Grizzlies assisted on 30 of their 38 made baskets and forced 19 Pratt turnovers.
Up next: Butler returns home to the Power Plant in El Dorado to host Fort Hays Tech Northwest. The game, originally scheduled for 4 p.m., has been moved up to a 2 p.m. tipoff. Fort Hays Tech (5-2, 1-1) is coming off a narrow 98-95 loss to conference-leading Garden City.
