The Butler Grizzlies edged out the Garden City Broncbusters 26–23 in a thrilling double-overtime battle on Saturday, thanks in part to standout performances from Markellus Bass and Hunter Rioux. The win marked the Grizzlies first at Broncbuster Stadium since 2014.
Running back Markellus Bass finished with 24 carries for 144 yards, 6.0 yards per carry and one rushing touchdown. Bass currently leads the country in rushing yards per game, averaging 130.8 a night.
Redshirt-freshman kicker Hunter Rioux had a clutch performance in the win. Rioux was 2-2 on field goals, including the eventual game-winning kick in double-overtime from 36-yards out. This is the second time this season Rioux has been given player of the week honors.
