Butler Baseball Drops Games Three & Four to No. 11 Hutchinson
EL DORADO, Kan. – The Butler Grizzlies fell to No. 11 Hutchinson in games three and four of the series on Saturday from McDonald Stadium.

EL DORADO, Kan. – The Butler Grizzlies fell to No. 11 Hutchinson in games three and four of the series on Saturday from McDonald Stadium.
Game 1 (6 inn.) – Hutchinson 18, Butler 8
After Hutchinson (29-5, 11-1 KJCCC) scored the opening run of the game in the top half of the first, Butler (17-13, 11-5) left fielder Yusei Uzawa led off the bottom half of the inning with a solo homer to tie the game at 1. With the Grizzlies trailing 6-1 heading into the bottom of the third, Butler ended up scoring four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Tanay Vyas brought in Uzawa and Brady Todd to score off an RBI single. Later in the inning, Kaden Gomez-Gordon doubled to right field for a 2 RBI double, scoring Holden Lough and Jackson Ellison.
The Grizzlies continued to hang around until the 6th inning. Hutchinson led 10-7 heading into the 6th and would go onto put up an eight spot in the inning, now leading 18-7. Jackson Ellison singled through the left side of the infield, scoring Danny Wideman for the only run of the inning, ending the game in six innings.
Hutchinson had 18 runs on 19 hits, while the Grizzlies had eight runs on 12 hits along with three errors.
Whitley Rhodes (L, 2-1) started on the mound for the Grizzlies and suffered his first loss of the season.
Game 2 (8 inn.) – Hutchinson 17, Butler 5
Butler got on the board first after a fielder's choice scored Uzawa in the bottom of the first but after that, it was all Hutchinson.
The Blue Dragons held a 10-2 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th while Vyas brought in Wideman for a run off an RBI single, and in the 6th, Gomez-Gordon hit a two-run homer, his 10th on the season. Those were the final runs of the contest for the Grizzlies, as Hutchinson scored six more runs in the 8th to run rule Butler for the third consecutive game.
Hutchinson hit five home runs and had 15 hits and were walked seven times. Butler had 10 hits in the contest.
Maddux Schrupp (L, 3-2) started on the mound for the Grizzlies and suffered his second loss on the season. Schrupp threw 3.1 innings and gave up four hits, six runs (three earned), walked four batters and struck out three.
Next up: The Grizzlies will take on the Coffeyville Red Ravens on Tuesday from McDonald Stadium in El Dorado for a single nine inning game.
