FRESHMAN: Played in 56 of Butler’s 57 games, starting 55. Hit .249 with 45 hits, 33 runs scored, four doubles and 22 RBI. He also had eight stolen bases. Made nine relief appearances on the mound, throwing 12.2 innings and earning a team-high five saves with a 3.55 ERA.

BEFORE BUTLER: Attended Mulvane High School in Mulvane, Kan., where he played for coach Daniel Myears.
