Singhateh, a freshman, was named the KJCCC Freshman of the Year following her impressive opening campaign in El Dorado. A Maize native, she made a major impact by starting 29 of Butler's 31 games and averaging nearly 28 minutes per contest to go along with 13.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game for a Grizzly squad that finished in the top four of the KJCCC regular season standings and qualified for the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament semifinals. Shooting over 45 percent from the field, Singhateh finished in double-figures in scoring 10 times this season with seven games scoring 20 or more points this season.
Cloud earned Defensive Player of the Year status in the conference – a rare feat for a defensive tackle. The redshirt freshman from Atlanta, Ga., was routinely double teamed all season but no matter as he finished with 48 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, three blocked kicks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup. Cloud earned KJCCC Player of the Week honors after the Grizzlies defeated top ranked Hutchinson. Cloud finished with 9.0 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and career-high 3.5 sacks. Cloud also added a forced fumble in the game as he was nearly unblockable. He is the first conference defensive player of the year for the Grizzlies since 2013 when Owen Williams took home the award.
The award has been given out since 2015 as a Junior College specific award. Prior to that, two year schools were lumped in with four year finalists for the "College Male/Female Athlete of the Year" since 1998.
