Wichita Sports Commission Honors Carter With Achievement of Excellence Award
Carter Honored For His Leadership at Butler
WICHITA, Kan. – Butler Community College Athletic Director Todd Carter was honored with an Achievement of Excellence Award by the Wichita Sports Commission at the Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on Thursday evening at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Carter announced his retirement on May 30, 2025, after 38 years of service at Butler, the last 23 as Director of Athletics. You can read the full retirement release here.
The excerpt from the Greater Wichita Sports Banquet program read, "Todd Carter has dedicated 38 years to Butler Community College, serving the last 23 as the Director of Athletics. A respected leader in the KJCCC, Carter guided the Grizzlies to seven NJCAA National Championships and 75 conference titles. He began as Butler's Head Athletic Trainer in 1987 and rose to become one of the NJCAA's most accomplished athletic directors, earning back-to-back Bryce Roderick Awards. Carter also led major facility upgrades and prioritized academic success, with numerous programs earning NJCAA academic honors. A native of South Dakota, Carter leaves behind a lasting legacy of excellence in athletics, academics and leadership."
