Michael DeHaven is in his first season as the assistant cross country/track and field coach. He will work primarily with the sprinters and hurdlers in the track and field program. He will also be the team recruiting coordinator.
DeHaven comes to Butler after spending two seasons as a volunteer assistant at Auburn working with the sprinters and hurdlers. In addition to working with collegiate athletes he also assisted in coaching several post-collegiate professional athletes on the Auburn campus.
Prior to entering into coaching, DeHaven was a multiple time NCAA All-American sprinter for the Auburn Tigers. He was an outdoor All-American in three consecutive seasons (2009-2011) and was an indoor All-American in the 200 meter dash in 2009. He earned his degree in communications with a minor in business.
DeHaven is a native of Tyrone, Ga. and attended Sandy Creek High School. He helped the school win the 2007 Georgia AAA State Championship. He is the son of Michael and Sharon DeHaven.
